Ken Grosso, CEO, and Darren Port, President, began Powered by Professionals in 2002 to connect people to volunteer opportunities or to assist them in creating and managing their own charity. Their entrepreneurial spirit and eye for philanthropy qualifies them for this award.

Ken and Darren developed an effective and efficient system that allows us to fulfill our mission with five staff members. Staff backgrounds include public administration, business, marketing, event planning and social work. With this profound level of experience, we are able to work with the client to determine what they are looking for from all of these perspectives.

In our first full year of operations, we helped three people start and manage their own charitable organizations and we have not looked back since as our current roster is ten with projections to grow to fourteen by the end of next year. Additionally, we currently have helped recruit and place 1,000 volunteers with charitable causes that have meaning to them and we are projecting that number to grow to close to $12 million by the end of next year.

As a result of all of their hard work, planning and success, Kenneth and Darren were jointly nominated by Inc. Magazine for Entrepreneur of the Year. On behalf of the entire staff at PBP we wish them well in their endeavors and beyond. They certainly deserve this honor!
